Estrin Tide is Fresh, Everyone Else is Tired

HD video, 5.1 surround sound, programmed LED lighting, aromatherapy oil and diffusers, 91 minute loop, 2016.

Estrin Tide is Fresh, Everyone Else is Tired is a multi-sensory installation that simultaneously questions, parodies, and promotes biohacking and transhumanism through the character Estrin. The demands of a hyper-employed, 21st century lifestyle have led Estrin to feel that her natural body and mind are frustratingly inadequate. She sleeps hyper-polyphasically to thrive as a 9-to-5 library IT employee and a 5-to-9 transhumanist, vlogger, forum moderator, gamer, and synth-loving New Age hacker.

The installation environment of Estrin Tide is designed to coax visitors to sync with Estrin, including her 3-minutes-awake 15-seconds-asleep sleep cycle, while watching a running playlist of her YouTube dispatches. Estrin knows you're tired, and she wants to give you the opportunity to experience her optimized lifestyle. The Xenofeminist Manifesto urges, "If nature is unjust, change nature," and so Estrin does.
